Charter Oak finishes season strong

The hardest part of the battle was already over with as Charter Oak beat West Covina a week earlier to get into second place, however now they needed to close out the job in order to secure their playoff spot. All they would need to do is beat fifth-place Chino and it would be theirs. Heading into hostile territory, May 15 would be the day that would make or break CO’s baseball season.

Charter Oak did not want to take any chances in this game and avoided any and all drama. After a scoreless two innings from both teams, the Chargers scored two runs in the top of the third and added one more in the fourth. The Cowboys couldn’t do anything to respond, and the Chargers went into cruise control. They eased into a 3-0 win, taking care of business just as easily as expected. The Charter Oak Chargers baseball team is now headed to the playoffs.

CO heads into their first round playoff game on May 21 at Redondo Union High. The Sea Hawks are the heavy favorite, ranked second in the division, and have racked up an impressive 24-7 overall record, and an 8-2 league record. The Chargers definitely have their work cut out for them, but Charter Oak is always the underdog, we thrive on this kind of pressure. May 21 will be a game to watch.
