On April 10, the Los Angeles Times Education Staff held a panel at the Festival of Books to discuss the Times’ education coverage. The panel included reporters Daniela Gerson, Howard Blume and Sonali Kohli.

The session began with a brief presentation on the LA Times Education page, where they introduced new articles written in Spanish, highlights of recent stories and had two high school students describe HS Insider.

The panelists then took questions through an online poll, as well as from audience members. Topics revolved around food in the district, texting in class, the suicide of a teacher, and the stress of standardized testing. Many members in the crowd were LAUSD staff or parents of students. The speakers expressed their concerns about the new superintendent and shared their stories.
