Katherine Haik, Miss Teen USA, walked the carpet in a beautiful, red gown. Her bright, green eyes lit up as she spoke. She is from Louisiana, and only 15 years old. She said that she is excited to see who will join the wonderful sisterhood of pageant winners.

She is still in high school, and a teen. I asked her, from teenager to teenager, what message she wants to send out to all the high school viewers tonight. She said, “I think that in this society a lot of people are not really being themselves, and I think that it is really important for people to be original and be unique, and just show the world who you are.”

Her words resonate with me, as they should with other teens through out the world.
