On May 6, A Night To Remember brought students from all over the county into the Ventura County Fairgrounds at 6 p.m. for a night full of dancing, food and attention, all for free.

A Night to Remember is a prom for kids with special needs, and gives them a night they’ll never forget. The dance is presented by Mission Church.

The ages of the guests ranged between 12 to 25, and they received makeup, tuxes, dresses and a limo ride to the red carpet. At the event, each guest was paired with a host, and the parents of the guest were welcome to stay as well.

Foothill junior Camilla Ormachea says she loves working with special needs kids.

“It gives these kids an actual experience, no one should ever miss out on their high school prom.”

Laura Carrasco, a guest specialist at the event, also works as a special education teacher at Dwire School in Oxnard.

“I wanted to come see some of my kids all grown up, I can’t think of anything better.”
