Garfield High anticipated a visit from Jordan High on Oct. 30. Jordan has had a rough season thus far, losing every game for an 0-9 record. As the Garfield Bulldogs prepared for this game, they were not too worried about their opponent.

The game was a laugher, with the bench getting plenty of playing time in a 79-0 victory.

“This game right here doesn’t really matter to me, I care about my family playing,” Garfield quarterback Stevie Williams said. “This game is for the starters to rest up and get ready for the East Los Angeles Classic.”

There were a lot of predictions before the game, with some guessing at a 62-0 win. That was the score at halftime.

Garfield Coach Lorenzo Hernandez decided that the starters would change out of their game uniform and rest on the sideline.

“He took us out of the game because we wanted to show respect and not blow out this team and just disrespect them like that,” wide receiver Deion Washington said.

The final score was 79-0. Jordan earned a lot of respect from the Garfield football team as their determination was high throughout the night. The Bulldogs take this win and now get ready for their crosstown rivals as they challenge the Roosevelt Rough Riders Nov. 7, celebrating the 80th anniversary of the East Los Angeles Classic.
