Granada Hills’ Angela Le channels her inner thoughts and emotions through fashion

Different kinds of art channel an individual’s inner thoughts and emotions, whether it be through writing, drawing, or film. However, another popular form of art is fashion. For generations, people have explored different fashion trends as a way to express themselves and to stand out amongst the crowd.

Junior Angela Le pursues fashion in order to accentuate her unique identity. When she was younger, Le’s interest in fashion grew when her mother took her shopping. At the time, fashion for Le was merely a personal interest rather than a serious passion.

When Le was in middle school, fashion blogs became a growing trend that inspired her to experiment with different styles which allowed her to demonstrate her personality through her clothing. Le gained inspiration from other fashion bloggers and created her own blog that documented several outfits that she put together daily.

“The thing about clothing is that it’s another art form. Typically, I think I’m an eccentric person, so I try to make my sense of style or how I sew unique and different [from] everyone else. If you have confidence, you can make anything,” Le said.

Although she had a particular interest in fashion, Le first wanted to pursue a career in the medical field. It was not until she watched “Project Runway” that she was compelled to pursue fashion seriously. Watching several fashion designers create unique pieces of clothing inspired Le to start sewing her own clothes.

“Sewing is really relaxing and especially when you’re in your quiet place and you can do whatever you want. You’re able to channel your inner feelings and put your heart into it. If you really have a passion for it, it’s not something you have to work for, rather you want to work for it,” Le said

Fashion is a unique form of art that allows Le to articulate her personality into her clothing. Many people tend to base their clothing on popular trends; but for Le, fashion allows a person to channel their true personality.

“A lot of people look down on art or creative careers in general. In modern society, people prefer more stable jobs. But I think if you really have a passion for what you do, you can make your way towards your dream and have an amazing future,” Le said.
