“We didn’t give up, not once, this was a dog fight and we didn’t give up when we were down, but this game we came up short,” said quarterback Stevie Williams after a heart wrenching loss to the Narbonne Gauchos on Friday, November 28.

The Bulldogs hosted the Gauchos in hopes to win their ticket to the final round of the CIF Los Angeles City Section Playoffs. The Gauchos were quick shooters as they made their first touchdown halfway into the first quarter. Narbonne lead Garfield 6-0 well into the second quarter where the Bulldogs managed to get a field goal, reducing the lead 6-3. In the same minute Narbonne penetrated the Bulldog’s defense for a touchdown leading the Bulldogs 14-3 at the end of the first half.

In the third quarter, tight end Chris Alexander received a 30-yard pass from quarterback Stevie Williams shortening the lead 14-10. Tears filled the eyes of the Bulldogs as the game clock hit zero with the final score being 14-10.

“We could have won, there was a lot of mental mistakes we committed and as a result the better team came out on top,” said Williams when questioned about his team’s performance.

These gentlemen undoubtedly played their hearts out holding their heads high to a great end in the 2014 football season.
