When I think about your senior year in high school, all that comes to mind is having fun and enjoying the last year of high school. But what we don’t seem to also remember is that we have to start preparing ourselves for the real world. We have to start deciding on where we want to apply to college and major. Some start applying for jobs because they don’t get everything handed to them, and have to multitask by going to school and working at the same time. It’s definitely scary to make all these decisions because you don’t know where you will be in the next year.

Don’t get me wrong, there are some fun times during your senior year that you could look forward to. For example prom, grad night, senior dinner, senior ditch day, and other senior activities. Sadly all of this usually happens during the last months and of course graduation is what we all can’t wait for. But before all of those events happen, we have to make sure we stay on track with all our work and pass all the classes to receive the high school diploma.

It’s sad to see some students who have gone through three years of high school and just give up on their final year because it becomes too hard. Senioritis is a humorous term but it’s a real thing that some seniors do suffer from. In case you are wondering what this is, it’s when seniors don’t want to put much effort in their classes because they think they are finished. This is when things begin to go down hill and can hurt us. Colleges in which have accepted you can revoke your admission if you fail your senior classes. With this being said, we should keep in mind to give it our all until the very end.

After high school is over, we go on off to the real world where no one is going to be babysitting us. We should start being independent and responsible so reality doesn’t slap us in the face after high school.
