Snapchat — the trending app of the 21st Century

We are now in the 21st Century where technology is growing and getting better. I mean who doesn’t use a smartphone, laptop or tablet? Nowadays, everyone is connected with a device with many new apps being released everyday and updated. When a new app or update is released, it’s talked about on the internet which makes it quite impossible for you not to check all the fuss. One of the most trending apps that is out now is Snapchat, which is an app that allows you to see what your friends are up to and have the opportunity to communicate with them as well.

Snapchat was first publicly released in 2011. Although there wasn’t much to do on Snapchat at the time, it has changed since its public release. With all the new updates everyone seems to be enjoying it more. According to The Muse, it currently has 100 million users active daily and a 3.5 rating on the Google Play store. There is about more than 700 million snaps sent every day by its daily users. Although most of its users are teens and people in their early 20s, it is being used by older people as well. Snapchat is used in different ways for example, as a way to start your social life to communicate with your friends and to promote a brand or business. According to the Atlantic Magazine, Facebook has offered the company a $3 million buyout.

The good thing about Snapchat is that it’s not complicated to use! Take a picture, add a caption, doodle, or add an emoji and send it to a friend privately or post it as your story so all your friends could see. Each story could be put for up to 10 seconds and last up to 24 hours only, meaning that every photo you send disappears after those 24 hours.

With its new update, you could choose from a variety of cool effects. If you want to let your friends know where you are, turn on your location, take a snap, and swipe to the left in order to demonstrate a location filter. You also have the chance to video chat live with your friends whenever you want, see when someone has opened your snap, and if they are typing, meaning there is no excuse for a friend to say that they never opened or received your message. What is even better is that you’ll get a notification if someone takes a screenshot of your picture or message. Many celebrities now use Snapchat to fill in their fans on what they are doing on a daily basis.

I like to use Snapchat on a daily basis because it lets me communicate with my friends. I also get the chance to look at what my favorite celebrities are up to and if they are releasing a new product in which I get the opportunity to get all the details. Many of my out-of-state family members have Snapchat, therefore, I can get in touch with them.
