On April 19, Louisville mothers and daughters gathered at the Westlake Four Seasons for one of Louisville’s most loved traditions: The Mother-Daughter Luncheon and Fashion Show. The theme for the event this year was “Bon Voyage”, and nautical accents to the day created a wonderful send off for the seniors who enjoyed their last mother-daughter fashion show.
The event began at 10 a.m. when the doors opened for a boutique. Local stores and vendors sold everything from the trendiest new outfits to home decor items and beyond. There was even a silent auction, where bets were placed on items such as: dorm decorations, gift certificates and more.
When the doors to the dining room opened, mothers, daughters and guests found their way to their seats to enjoy a lunch of salad, chicken and a delicious dessert. The chatter over food and newly purchased accessories filled the room as everyone enjoyed the afternoon with their loved ones, but no one could avoid looking at the main attraction: the runway built in the center of the room. Soon enough, it was put to use.
In preceding weeks, senior girls were prepped to strut their stuff on the runway, modeling clothes from various stores and boutiques. Now, accompanied by faculty, fathers and even a few Crespi boys, it was time to show off what they learned. The first scene opened with a combination of workout and casual clothing, as models walked to Taylor Swift’s “Style.”
The second scene, set to Maroon 5’s song “Sugar,” displayed girls in safari type clothing. Scene three changed the tone as the girls glided down the runway in semi-formal outfits to Ed Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud”. Finally, scene four hosted girls wearing elegant prom dresses and escorted by either fathers or Crespi boys. The show was very well put together, and all participants walked with grace and class.
The event was, as always, a huge success. It captured the nautical theme and sent Louisville ladies and their mothers on a journey for the afternoon.
