On Nov. 21, the Louisville Varsity Volleyball team beat Sierra Canyon to take home the CIF Championship. The win at Rio Hondo College was a celebratory one considering the last time Louisville won CIF was in 1981. The final scores were: 25-17, 16-25, 25-19, 25-23. This game was full of excitement as Louisville won the first game, and then anxiety and tension came in as Sierra Canyon won the second game. However, Louisville got it back and shut down the other team to take the win.
“The whole team just came together and we knew if we were going to win, we had to fight,” said lone senior, Kaitlin Morely, to the LA Daily News. Morely is also actually committed to Fordham University, and will have her jersey and number retired before she leaves Louisville.
Louisville had a great turn out; almost 100 students showed up to support the team and broke out into ecstatic cheering when Louisville got the win. Now on their way to State, Louisville will face La Costa Canyon at Crespi in the first round on Nov. 24 at 7 pm.
It is an exciting time to be a Royal indeed!
