At the beginning of every school year, St. Lucy’s students await the annual First Chance Dance. This is the “first chance” for underclassmen to meet others their age from Damien High School, our brother school.

On Friday, August 28, at 7:30 PM St. Lucy’s and Damien students were dropped off on the St. Lucy’s campus, while upperclassmen mostly carpooled. Students from both high schools gathered in the amphitheater to begin their night of dancing.

The dance was Fiesta themed, which made students from both schools excited. Many St. Lucy’s students had matching shirts, some that read, “Fiesta like there is no mañana.”

For most, this is the first opportunity to meet people who they will be spending the next few years with, but for the seniors, this is one of the “last” chances to have fun with the friends they have made throughout the years.

After hours of dancing, singing, and talking among friends, the Class of 2016 ended the night with the senior class cheer, followed by the traditional St. Lucy’s victory cheer.
