My East LA
“Greetings from East LA” is an East LA asset-mapping project including a printed version of the “map of the stars” found in more affluent Los Angeles communities. All content is created by two classes of high school seniors from the East Los Angeles Renaissance Academy at Esteban Torres High School (ELARA). Stories featured in the HS Insider augment the printed map. The project explores, documents and interprets the value and values that the students assign to people and places in East LA, while responding to questions about representation and equity. “Greetings from East LA” is led by Public Matters and community-engaged architect and urbanist Theresa Hwang.
