Dear future president,

Although I am not yet old enough to drive, I understand the consequences of driving under the influence of alcohol. Every two minutes, a person is injured in a crash involving a drunk driver. I have not been immediately affected by this issue, but I hold it very dear to my heart.

With so many intoxicated drivers on the road, I fear that myself or someone I love could be the next victim. It angers and saddens me that people can be so selfish to think that their actions do not affect other people. What will you do to prevent these disasters before they occur? How do you plan to punish the people who commit these crimes?

I want to be assured that my next president will take a stand on this issue and commit to a solution.

Sincerely,

Simone Oberreiter
