One concrete step I am going to take to better myself would be to remember that it’s not just me speaking, it’s people listening.

People often speak without thinking how people who are listening are going respond. Problems may start and people can be offended. This can be done without limiting freedom. It’s important to remember just because it does not look like people are listening does not make it true.

One concrete step I am going to do is make my community better in learning about diversity of gender, race, religion, sexuality, anything that makes people feel different from others and help them feel safe and comfortable here. I am going to make sure that I do not put down anyone that is in our community because our community will not tolerate racism. I will help anyone that I see is being put down because of these things and make them feel welcomed.
