On Sept. 29, the Alex Theatre in Glendale hosted the premiere of “Buddy: The Sing-Along Version.” The evening began with a red carpet and interviews, where cast and crew came together to celebrate the film, which was then followed by a special screening.

Director and co-writer Casper Kelly, along with cast members Delaney Quinn, Madison Skyy Polan, CJ Williams and Luke Speakman, as well as Buddy attended the world premiere.

“It’s so nice to come back and meet up with the cast and experience this together another time,” Williams said.

“Buddy” is a horror film that follows a group of children living in Buddy’s world. Unexpectedly, the film takes a darker turn when one child starts to question the rules and expectations around them.

Director and co-writer Casper Kelly takes inspiration for “Buddy” from the “children’s shows from that time period.”

“The scenes and story were very unique and gave me goosebumps at first. I love that about it and how it’s horror and really funny. Every time I watch it, I laugh, and so does my family,” Polan said.

The well-known social media sensation “Buddy” hit theaters on Aug. 28, 2026, and is now one of Saban Films’ highest-grossing films. Whether on social media or on the big screen, Buddy has become one of the most recognizable faces among audiences.

“I love horror movies. I’ve loved them since I was four. What really drew me to this project was the fact that it was a children’s horror movie, and the child wasn’t just a little side character. It shows how strong kids can be and that they can be more than side characters,” Quinn said.

The night included a costume contest where fans dressed up and showed off their love for horror films.

“I’m so excited to be here and see the crowd, I’m looking forward to seeing all the costumes and seeing the singing,” Kelly said.

Working alongside a cast that is your age is a unique and fun experience. Speakman said it was his first time working with a cast of kids his age.

“This is my first ever cast that I got to work with kids. You get to spend time with people your age and have fun with them. It’s amazing because it’s never happened to me before. I’ve also never worked with these huge puppets before, like Buddy, and it’s real life, not just CGI. It was so cool,” Speakman said.

“Buddy” is now available to watch digitally, and “Buddy: The Sing-Along Version” is now playing in theaters.

Imagine a fungus that turns an ant into a walking delivery system or a tiny crustacean that replaces a fish’s tongue and takes over its place inside the fish’s mouth. These are not scenes from a science-fiction movie. They are real examples of parasitism, one of...
