“Never lose your love for theatre and have fun. That is the biggest part of staying inspired.” – Tasia Jungbauer
Actress and singer, Tasia Jungbauer has appeared in a production on Broadway, and is currently playing Catherine Parr on the national tour of “SIX the Musical.”
“This is my 2nd year [on tour] as I joined in Sept. 2024,” Jungbauer said. “I joined as Catherine Parr and have stayed performing as her.”
The audition process is full of rigor and difficulty, but Jungbauer’s hard work and perseverance made it all worthwhile.
“I had been auditioning for “SIX the Musical” for years, and had really loved the show,” Jungbauer said. “The moment that the cast album was released, I fell in love. I flew to London for my first audition which was kind of crazy.”
Her inspiration comes back to her childhood passion for performing.
“When I was a kid, I always gravitated towards doing plays as I would sing in my bedroom and record it on a little tape recorder,” Jungbauer said.
Unsure if she wanted to pursue her education in acting and the performing arts, she explored different opportunities before deciding her path.
“I went to Pepperdine initially as an undeclared major,” Jungbauer said. “When I was a sophomore, I declared a theater major and a music minor.”
During her time at Pepperdine, she did the musical “Oklahoma” where she received a callback for Ado Annie, which inspired her to focus more on theater.
When she’s not on the stage performing, Jungbauer enjoys a variety of hobbies.
“I like non-fiction writing,” Jungbauer said. “I’ve been doing a lot of that on the road, writing my own kind of stories. I also have my dog on the road, so a lot of my time outside of the show is spent walking and hanging out with him. I also love doing yoga and meditating.”
Aside from “SIX the Musical,” Jungbauer spent about three years in Broadway’s “Moulin Rouge” in New York, where she played Arabia, one of the featured ensemble members.
“My experience in Moulin Rouge was thrilling,” Jungbauer said. “It was probably one of the most exciting moments of my life. I made some of my best friends there and hit so many milestones and accomplishments. I made my Broadway and principal debut there, had the chance to work with Aaron Tveit and Derek Klena, and was part of the cast when ‘Moulin Rouge’ won the Tonys.”
Looking ahead for future projects, Jungbauer is excited to pursue and explore new opportunities.
“I hope some more theater stuff comes up. I really want to check Hamilton off my bucket list, but also I would love to do a new show. I would also love to do some more TV films, and I really want to be in a cheesy Christmas Hallmark movie,” Jungbauer said.
