Orange County School of the Arts students were in for a surprise this week when they went to register for classes. The Tower—OCSA’s main building—has turned from a boring white to a bright orange, though some maintain the shade is more of a yellow.
The Tower is one of OCSA’s main buildings. Many high school classes are held in the Tower, a seven-story building. The Tower also contains the school’s Student Services office, the Administrative Office, and the cafeteria.

The Tower is originally rumored to be a bank, and there are many details on this building that support this assumption, from the silver deposit boxes on one side of the building and the vault-like door in the teacher supply room.
Other buildings on the OCSA campus include the Annex (where most middle-school classes are held), the DMS (Dance, Music, and Science Center), and the Tech building (where there’s the nurse’s office and Film and Television computers are).
Students have a mixed response. Some were glad that the school is moving away from its bland appearance to a brighter design. A few students commented on their hopes for future OCSA projects, like murals on the inside of buildings. Others expressed regret, like noting that designers could have used school colors, or that the Visual Arts conservatory could have used the paint.
Well, something is for sure: the Orange County School of the Arts really is orange now.
