Music is an essential part of Mira Costa High School teacher Timothy Piper’s life, and he brings it into the classroom every day. His students range from freshmen taking geography to seniors preparing for their AP Psychology exam. But no matter the age of his students, Piper looks to positively influence his pupils in the same way.

Before his career as a teacher, he led a band auspiciously named “A Feel Good Assignment.” Piper infuses all of his classes with his passion of music, from background tunes during his lectures to full-blown performances during lunch time.

In his free time, Piper continues to write his own personal songs that reflect who he is as a person and teacher.  “Teaching is my professional passion but music is my emotional, personal passion. Those two things combined is what makes me, me,” he said.
