“The World Games also show us what we have in common as people in the world, no matter what country we call home.”
The German Special Olympics Team enjoyed a rally at California State University, Los Angeles (CSULA) on Friday, July 24. All were welcome to watch as the German team paraded in the gymnasium through a tunnel of cheerleaders while a band performed.
As the rally went on, Mark Keppel High School and San Gabriel High School’s dance teams, cheerleaders, and band performed their routines. Jeff Maloney, co-chairperson of the Alhambra Host Town Committee said, “We wanted to show them sort of an old-fashioned American pep-rally.”
CSULA also projected a slideshow of pictures and videos from the past week, and all the activities and training the German athletes went through.
