South East High School is initiating a new tradition. The principal decided to create a Science Night for all parents whose students attend the school.

“This is the chance for parents to do things on their own and experience science and learn about it,” said Mr. Ancalade, a Tech & Media magnet Physics teacher.

Science Night will take place March 31 from 5 p.m to 7 p.m. Participating teachers include Mr. Perez, Mr. Seitz, Ms. Vazquez and Ms. Diaz. Teachers will show different demonstrations and expose parents to different types of science like physics, chemistry, and biology.

“The principal is a huge supporter for science,” said Mr. Ancalade.

Students are not likely aware about Science Night.

“I wasn’t aware about the Science Night, but I will tell my parents to come because it’s such a great way for my parents to get learn about what we are learning in our science classes,” said Leslie Juarez, a senior from the Health and Science small school.

Science teachers are looking forward to Science Night and they hope it will be successful, so they can continue hosting it in future years.
