Each week, a group of high school students meet at the Redondo Beach yacht club, ready their boats, and set sail.
Although the Mira Costa High School sailing team is not officially affiliated with Mira Costa, the students participate through independent PE. They participate in events such as races and other competitions for both their Mustang sailing team and the Redondo Harbor Youth Foundation sailing team.
Though the sport is seemingly uncommon, the team has continued to grow over the years, fostering sailing potential throughout high school. For athletes looking to break their comfort zone, the ocean awaits.
