The Los Angeles Dodgers entered the 2025 season with high expectations after adding star player Shohei Ohtani in the offseason. Although Ohtani is not pitching this year due to injury recovery, he has been a key contributor at the plate and has helped keep the Dodgers competitive in the National League.

By late June, the Dodgers were near the top of the NL West standings. Their offense has been one of the strongest in the league, with consistent production from veteran players like Freddie Freeman and Will Smith. Ohtani has delivered as expected, hitting for power and average, even surprising fans by pitching a one-inning start that resulted in two hits and one earned run in a 4-3 win over the San Diego Padres. Mookie Betts has been performing at a high level and continuing his Mookie Betts mojo.

The team has also seen assistance from younger players and role players stepping up when first-line injuries occur. These injuries have posed challenges for the Dodgers, though, particularly with their starting pitching. As a result of these injuries and inconsistencies in the rotation, the bullpen has had to shoulder a heavier workload, leading to some late-game losses.

Despite these setbacks, the Dodgers remain a top team in the National League. Their depth and experience give them a strong chance to make a playoff run, but staying healthy and consistent will be important in the second half of the season.

As the All-Star break approaches, fans and analysts are watching to see how the team will adjust. If they can improve their pitching and maintain offensive production, they have the potential to make a deep postseason run.
