Sydney is a senior at University High School. She started as a staff writer for her school newspaper and now serves as an executive editor for the Sword & Shield. She is a print and on-camera journalist exploring topics to elevate diverse voices and foster a socially inclusive, just, and equitable community. She is also the founder and Editor-in-Chief of Crossroads, a literary magazine for students to develop creative writing and explore interdisciplinary writing genres in a collaborative environment at her school. A creative writer and teacher, she enjoys writing flash fiction, short stories, and poetry.
Outside of the newsroom, Sydney is an avid athlete. She was elected Sports Commissioner at University High School for the 2022-23 school year, and she plays lacrosse, soccer, wrestling, and runs cross country for her high school and club teams. Being involved with several aspects of her community have allowed her to gain insight into a multitude of perspectives, from athletes to artists. In her free time, you can find her working on her manuscript or watching her favorite shows (Gilmore Girls and The West Wing).
