1. Newport Beach: Back Bay Loop

Connecting the Upper Newport Bay with the Newport Harbor, Newport Back Bay Loop is a 10.5 mile loop where you can walk, run, or bike along a paved bike trail. Parking is free, with four different entrances: Newport Dunes, Interpretive Center, East Bluff Drive, or Science Center. Along the loop, you may stumble upon endangered or rare species like the Brown Pelican or Peregrine Falcon.

2. Crystal Cove State Park

Located between Laguna Beach and Newport Beach, Crystal Cove State Park offers over 18 miles of trails that wind through scenic coastal bluffs and woodlands. One popular trail is the 3-mile loop from El Moro Canyon to the ridge, offering stunning ocean views and a moderate workout. Parking is available at the park’s main entrance for a fee. You can also enjoy the historic district with its charming beach cottages and tide pools.

3. Top of the World, Laguna Beach

For breathtaking panoramic views of Orange County and the Pacific Ocean, head to Top of the World in Laguna Beach. Start at Alta Laguna Park, where you can find parking and restrooms. The West Ridge Trail is a 4-mile-out-and-back hike that takes you along a ridge with spectacular vistas. The trail is family and dog-friendly, making it perfect for a casual outing!

4. Peters Canyon Regional Park

Situated in the city of Orange, Peters Canyon Regional Park offers a variety of trails suitable for all levels. The 5.9-mile loop trail around Peters Canyon Reservoir provides a mix of shaded paths and open hills, with beautiful views of the surrounding countryside.
